Most problems with online casinos can be spotted before the first deposit. None of the signs below proves a casino is a scam on its own, but each one is a reason to slow down, and two or three together are a reason to walk away.

1. No Company Behind the Brand

A real operator names its company, registration number and licence in the terms. If you cannot find who runs the casino, you will not know who to complain to either. Check it with our guide to verifying a casino licence.

2. A Licence Seal That Goes Nowhere

A regulator's logo that is only an image, or links back to the casino's own site, proves nothing. A real seal opens the regulator's website.

3. Bonuses That Look Too Good

A 500% match with no visible conditions is not generosity: the conditions are somewhere, or the bonus will never be paid. Real offers state their terms clearly; see how to read bonus terms.

4. Terms That Give the Casino Unlimited Discretion

Watch for clauses that let the casino void winnings "at its sole discretion" without a reason, or change the terms retroactively. Every casino reserves some rights; the problem is unlimited ones.

5. Very Low Withdrawal Limits

A small weekly withdrawal cap means a big win is paid out over months, if at all. Check the limits before you play, not after you win.

6. A Pattern of Withdrawal Complaints

One angry review means little. Dozens of complaints about unpaid withdrawals, especially with the same story, mean a lot. Search the casino name together with "withdrawal" and read how past cases ended.

7. Pressure and Unsolicited Contact

"Account managers" who message you first, offer personal bonuses for depositing today, or push you to deposit after a loss are a sign of a casino that earns from pressure, not from fair play.

8. Deposit to Withdraw

The clearest sign of all: being told you must deposit again, or pay a tax or unlock fee, to release your winnings. Stop there. A legitimate casino does not need new money to pay what you already won.

A Safer Way to Start

  • Start small at any casino you have not used before.
  • Withdraw early, even a small amount, to test how payouts work.
  • Keep records of deposits, bonus terms and conversations.
  • Never use a VPN to get around a country restriction: see VPNs at crypto casinos.
